European energy storage is entering a phase of rapid structural change, and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) is emerging as the next major frontier for deployment. While Europe’s mature markets continue to attract capital, the momentum behind early-stage storage development is now strongest in regions where renewable penetration is rising but grid integration remains incomplete. CEE sits at the centre of this shift. Yet the opportunities are not evenly distributed, and the region is characterised by both high growth potential and significant policy risk.
