UK Gov policy “could delay” financial close for £25bn Xlinks project

The UK government's Department for Energy Security and Net Zero today [26 June 2025] announced it will no longer support the proposed UK–Morocco renewables hub and interconnector project through a Contract for Difference (CfD) Guarantee, putting the ongoing debt raise for the £25 billion venture in jeopardy.
Xlinks has been pursuing the CfD option for "several years now" and has released a statement highlighting its disappointment with the government's decision.
