How the EU plans to fix Europe’s grids

The European Commission has unveiled its European Grids Package, a comprehensive set of laws and guidance designed to modernise the EU’s energy networks and prepare them for a much larger share of renewable electricity. The package brings together new planning rules, a legislative proposal to accelerate permitting, guidance to reduce grid connection backlogs and updated rules for long term support contracts for renewable generation.
