Howard Kennedy’s ESG specialist joins Fladgate

Jonathan Cohen, former partner and head of energy at UK-based boutique law firm Howard Kennedy, has joined Fladgate LLP.

He joined the London headquartered firm in January [2025] as partner following a close to eight-year stint at Howard Kennedy.

Cohen, pictured right, is an energy markets expert with over 20 years' of experience advising project developers and financiers.

He specialises in advising proponents of clean energy developments in the UK and internationally.

Commenting on his mandate at Fladgate, Cohen added: "Clean energy remains a focus for the UK and with the experience and the expertise within the law firm, Fladgate is uniquely positioned to help our clients navigate the ever-changing landscape.

"With the UK Government's proposal for a cap and floor scheme to prop up long duration battery storage and the recent end to moratorium on onshore wind developments in England, the project pipeline within the clean energy space is growing by the day."

Cohen has previously also advised data centre developers through the permitting phase and projects that this sector will also see an increase in deal flow in the coming months with the emergence of AI processing.
