Can US offshore wind survive Trump?

Just as the United States was starting to ramp up the procurement of its offshore wind pipeline, newly elected President Donald Trump brought efforts to a screeching halt, in an admittedly predictable move, but can the US economy or the country's increasing demand for energy survive the volte-face? RWE is the latest developer to wave the proverbial white flag and scale back its operations in the US. The German utility has announced plans to disband a large chunk of its offshore wind team in the US citing "challenging regulatory and political environment". The company will not exit the market in its entirety, unlike its industry peer bp, but will scale back its portfolio target and delay the delivery of some planned projects. Among the projects being delayed in the 2.8GW Community Offshore Wind Farm, which is being developed in partnership with National Grid Ventures.
