A row over who builds Britain's small modular reactors (SMRs) exposes a deep division over industrial policy. When Rolls-Royce SMR named South Korea's Doosan Enerbility and the Czech firm Škoda JS as strategic suppliers for the nuclear island’s reactor pressure vessel body, the reaction by some at Westminster was that a publicly backed British programme was sending its highest-value engineering abroad.
