From hybrid PPAs and hourly matching to battery tolling agreements, the market is placing a premium not on electricity itself, but on when that electricity becomes available. For PPAs, contracts are changing: shorter tenors, battery storage allocation and floating or indexed pricing mechanisms are becoming a new norm, while traditional pay-as-produced contracts are struggling to survive in a market where solar cannibalisation is eroding captured prices.
