News South Wales yesterday [18 June] unveiled its 2013-14 Budget, focusing on the continuing need to invest in critical infrastructure across the state and plans to lease the Port of Newcastle.
Premier Barry O’Farrell is keen to realise profits from privatisation of the port – the world’s largest coal terminal – to fund other large-scale projects. His vision is supported by the concessioning out of Port Botany and Port Kembla for 99 years for which the government received some Aus$4.3bn.
